Proprietor Robert Hill-Smith and Winemaker Louisa Rose, intrinsically linked with Eden Valley Riesling, had tasted and talked about Tasmanian Riesling on many occasions, over many years. They were enthralled by the bracing steely backbone of these wines, that reminded them of the cool and wild climate of the Tasmanian Coast. “The small block of mature Riesling vines, hiding in the rather larger plantings of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir, was an irresistible temptation to work with.
